You could probably make a similar looking, poorer performing, and cheaper one by hacking up corvette C4 frame, moving the engine back and welding on extra pipes.

You can find all sorts of wonderful information about designing your own car. Started off as just a locost forum, but there are quite a few people in their 'non-traditional' section building all sorts of cars. There's lot's of great information about space frame chassis design, and most importantly suspension design.

SteyrTMP is on here, and he's got a build thread about his car over there as well.
